Being Considerate

If you were to ask me what the most important trait is for a Karate student, I would say without hesitation that it is to be considerate.

By being considerate, many problems in life and disputes can be avoided.

And by being considerate, a student helps those around him.

Karate techniques are used as a last resort. Before that (and even after), we should be considerate.

Actually, there are two definitions of considerate. The first is "showing kindly awareness or regard for another's feelings, circumstances, etc." The second is "carefully considered; deliberate."

Both of these definitions apply. Karate students should be both caring and deliberate.
